Kick start programme - the easy way to a smooth start at Cph North

The kick start programme is a good way to get a smooth start in your new surroundings at Cph North
  • Find a place to stay
  • Apply for residence permit
  • Start looking for a job
  • Learn how the public transportation works
  • And, on top of it all, start at a new school with new classmates in a different culture!
There are a lot of things to worry about when you are moving to another country to study. To ease into your new life as an international student, we at Business Academy Copenhagen North offer a kick start programme during the weeks leading up to the new school year.

Cph North has appointed an international student to assist international students during their stay in July and August. During these weeks students can rent a room at the residence hall and get help looking for a place to stay, applying for a residence permit, finding a part-time job and get acquainted with the Danish way of living.

Two of the students who spent their summer in Denmark as a part of the kick start programme are Gergana (20) from Bulgaria and Sebastian (20) from Romania.

"I would definitely recommend people coming here. It has been really helpful and they don't show you: Look at Copenhagen it is so beautiful. They show you the real life here. This is what you have to do. This is how the transportation works, etc. It was really helpful and a good introduction to the Danish way of living. They explained the supermarkets to us and the cheap stores. How it is to live here as a student." said Sebastian. Gergana backs him up:

"The first days I thought I was going to be confused, but it was really good to come to the resident hall because there was students from the years before and the gave us a lot of advice for living here and studying at the academy, so it was really nice to come here before moving in to our own place".

Easier to find a place to stay in Denmark

One of the first and most important things to do when moving to another country is to find a home. It can be be hard to find the right place when you live in another country but again the kick start programme is a good way of finding a place to stay.
Neither Gergana or Sebastian had a place to live when the school year begins and even though the two didnt know each other they decided to join together at Cph North in the search for a permanent place to stay - and found a place in three days.

"It was nice because we both came alone and did not know anyone. The next days we went to see some places and we found a place to stay on the third day here which is really okay. We are going to share a house with six other students," says Gergana. "I was mostly concerned about finding a place to stay. Now I can smoothly start the school year because we have a place to stay. That is really nice. Because in September it is going to be really hard if you dont have a place to stay and hostels are really expensive".

Sebastian agrees that it is a good idea to come to Denmark before September and team up with other students in the search for a place to stay.

"Its not easy to apply for accommodation from home. In the conditional acceptance letter they include an application for KAB (non-profit housing company) and I sent it in May and still haven't received an answer. We didn't know anyone so we couldn't ask anyone if they could go for us. But thats life. Therefore, it is a good idea to participate in the programme," says Sebastian.
