Pedagogy, objectives and valuesThe teaching staff are pedagogically trained and updated on new teaching methods and the latest research within the various subjects that the academy offers. They all have university degrees at the highest level, and most have several years of experience from managerial positions in different companies. The teaching methods are based on active student participation, dialogue, group work, presentations and projects. One of the main objectives is to use theory in practice and, therefore, the lecturers do not only give lectures but engage themselves in discussions with the students in the class room, drawing on their work experience. Tutoring in connection with projects takes place in groups and individually.Cph North's objective is to educate students to become independently thinking people who are flexible and have the ability to analyse and explain theoretical problems related to the business world. Initiative and creativity are other focal points that the academy promotes. The academy is also constantly aware of improving the quality of the environment, the staff and the teaching methods being used, and therefore evaluations take place every semester and play an important part. All students have a chance of voicing their opinion and the lecturers will discuss the results with the students. Some of the response from these evaluations will also be debated in the student council, where elected students from all programmes have a seat.Social environmentCph North has a very relaxed atmosphere, and the relations between the staff at all levels and the students are not impeded by any barriers or distance. Cph North is not very big (1000 full-time students); that means that students easily connect with each other, work in study groups, arrange outings, or have parties. |
